Senior DevOps Engineer (Azure)

Working as a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will:

  • Help migrate existing applications and services to a modern Azure-based platform built around AKS and managed Azure services.

  • Adapt and maintain CI/CD processes within Azure DevOps, using reusable pipeline standards across multiple services and environments.

  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, covering Azure infrastructure, networking, monitoring and platform components.

  • Create and manage Helm charts required to deploy and operate microservices on Kubernetes.

  • Support changes to application traffic flows, including Azure Front Door, WAF, firewall, DNS and origin configuration.

  • Participate in the migration of workloads from legacy infrastructure and gradually retire outdated components.

  • Analyse and optimise Azure resources with a focus on scalability, reliability and cost efficiency, including Cosmos DB and Redis.

  • Contribute to security improvements across the platform and integrate security checks into the delivery process.

  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, Kubernetes workloads and deployment pipelines, resolving both planned engineering tasks and day-to-day operational issues.

  • Support other teams in onboarding their workloads to the new platform.

  • Prepare clear technical documentation, runbooks and handover materials for teams responsible for ongoing platform operations.

Our client is a technology services company delivering complex IT solutions and cloud transformation projects for organisations across different industries. The project involves the development and further evolution of a modern Azure platform used to host and operate microservice-based applications.

The engineering team is currently moving selected workloads from legacy environments to a standardised Azure platform, while improving automation, security, scalability and operational efficiency. This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform and modern DevOps practices in a technically demanding environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong commercial experience working with Microsoft Azure in a DevOps / Platform Engineering role.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform, including reusable modules, remote state, workspaces and multi-environment configurations.
  • Practical knowledge of Azure architecture, particularly AKS, VNets, Private Endpoints, Key Vault, RBAC, Managed/Workload Identity, Azure Firewall and API Management.
  • Solid Kubernetes and Helm experience, including deployments, services, ingress, workload configuration, scaling and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking and security, including DNS, TLS, WAF policies, routing and firewall configuration.
  • Experience with Azure Front Door and Azure-native traffic management.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience integrating security and quality controls into CI/CD processes.
  • Practical understanding of Azure cost optimisation and resource right-sizing, particularly Cosmos DB and Redis.
  • Experience migrating production workloads between Azure subscriptions, Kubernetes environments or CI/CD projects with appropriate cutover and rollback planning.
  • Comfortable working with Git-based development and pull-request workflows.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of technical tasks and operate effectively in a senior consulting/contracting environment.
  • Strong technical documentation skills.
  • Excellent English and Polish (min. B2 level)
